My journey in MTC A/C bus

First I would like to thank the State Transport Department in introducing and experimenting many things to cater the daily commuters.Once I read about the MTC A/C bus in the newspaper,I was determined to travel in it atleast once.I missed the chance more than a couple of times,but on October 19th I was a bit lucky.I reached tambaram around 1:10 and by the time the A/C bus looked like an ordinary bus.Every seat was occupied by juniors belonging to our bus and mandeveli.As it was the time I got a chance to travel in it,I din’t even bother to stand upto my stop.Though the bus had a CD player, the driver played some old song and the juniors at the back were asking for sivaji.The request was graciously accepted by the driver and the journey started off with “Ballelika Song”.There were outlets for AC above every seat and those who got the corner seat felt their money was a bit worthy than others.Each and every bus stop was announced by the driver as he had mic very close to him.

The conductor and driver were neatly dressed and the khaki or blue shirts were absent.Depending upon the commuters,the doors were opened.Both the doors were opened rarely,to maintain the cooling effect.LED lights have replaced the age old painted boards for display is another nice aspect of these buses.The ticket prices were not satisfactory to me because the journey to mylapore(28 kms) is priced at 30Rs and to broadway its just 33(39kms).Anyway the buses will be highly useful for students during the months of April and May,the time when chennai experiences a hot and humid weather.
