"Change" is inevitable

The bus commuters in our singara Chennai have a reason to smile that the bus fares have not undergone any changes over the past 4-5 years even though the fuel prices have gone up by nearly Rs12-Rs13.When a commuter gets into a yellow board bus he has to tender exact change for getting the ticket. On most occasions the conductors do not give any balance in purchase of tickets with 50p denominations (ie) 2.50,3.50,4.50 and so on.We do not have any mechanism of checking whether they have change or not. There are many options for the MTC authorities to resolve this in a easier manner. Before the conductor boards the bus for the first time in a day he should be handed over with 25/50 paise coins to the tune of Rs 50 which may reduce the problem to some extent.RBI should also take some efforts to increase the circulations of these coins instead of coming out with new Rs 2 or Rs5 coins.

Nice post da. The RBI should take effort to give some coins to the conductors so that it will be easy for the commuters to travel in the bus those who dont have the exact change to purchase a ticket. They should be given all the denominations.
